Getting Started

This guide gets imageio-wmf working in a project: add the dependency, build from source, and read your first WMF file.

Prerequisites

A JDK matching the project baseline: Java 25 (set via maven.compiler.release).
Apache Maven 3.9+ (or the project’s Maven wrapper, if present).

Add the dependency

<dependency>
    <groupId>pro.verron.imageio</groupId>
    <artifactId>imageio-wmf</artifactId>
    <version>${project.version}</version>
</dependency>

Build from source

git clone https://github.com/verronpro/imageio.git
cd imageio/imageio-wmf
mvn install

Read your first WMF

import javax.imageio.ImageIO;
import java.awt.image.BufferedImage;
import java.io.File;

BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(new File("image.wmf"));

The plugin auto-registers as an ImageIO provider for WMF, so no manual registration is needed.
